Starwood Retail Partners Takes A Stand Against Bullying With National Anti-Bullying Organization And iHEART Radio

Starwood Retail Partners’ Nationwide Malls to Host Events to STOMP Out Bullying 

CHICAGO – August 21, 2015 – Throughout the past three weeks, Starwood Retail Partners STOMP Out Bullying and iHeart Radio invited students across the country to apply to become a STOMP Out Bullying Teen Ambassador. 

Starwood Retail Partners teamed up with STOMP Out Bullying, the most influential anti-bullying organization in America, and internet favorite iHeart Radio, to encourage teens to stand up to and speak out on the important issue of bullying as start of the 2015-2016 school year approaches. 

From a field of more than 200, STOMP Out Bullying selected nine students as Teen Ambassadors who will speak at 12 of Starwood’s 23 malls that are hosting STOMP Out Bullying events this August. 

Each month, bullying results in more than 282,000 secondary school students physically attacked, while 43 percent of students are affected by cyber-bullying before school starts. Everyone attending Take a Stand will be encouraged to take their own pledge against bullying. 

Starwood malls, iHeart Radio and STOMP Out Bullying will host a second event, a STOMP Out Bullying Block Party, on Saturday, August 29 to kick off the start of the school year and to continue the discussion about taking a stand against bullying and cyberbullying.

Starwood Retail Partners is asking teens to take a stand against bullying by uploading a short video to Instagram explaining how they will work to reduce bullying in the upcoming school year, using the hashtag #STOMPOutBullying, as well as hashtaging the name of their local Starwood mall for a chance to win four tickets to a can’t-miss iHeart Radio concert. The contest runs through Saturday, August 29. Sweepstakes rules are available on each mall’s Facebook page.
